This setup is great and there is no conflict between the two. I have mine synced to my iPhone and my Nexus 7. You still have the benefits of playing back pencasts and having the device screen as a control is much better than the LC built into the old pens.Įverything else works a little differently, but is just as good as the old pen. You now need to bring your phone/tablet with you to capture notes with audio, but that's not a burden - I have my phone with me anyway. Separating this out and using the mic on my phone/tablet improves this immensely.
The audio recording is a much higher quality and does not pick up the sound of the pen on the paper:Īudio recordings on the Echo pen were plagued with the scratching noise of the pen on the paper. It still has to go via Evernote/OneDrive or similar, but this is a simple process from my phone or tablet and I'm not carrying an extra netbook just to deal with my notes. Using the iOS or Android app makes the process faster, no extra apps to buy (though you could say its already in the price of the pen) and sending the converted text to my laptop is easy. Plus the third party app for the conversion was another £20 or so. The app didn't like being installed on a USB drive and I was not permitted to install it on my work computer, so I needed Evernote or OneNote to move the files from my personal computer to the work one. On my 2GB Echo Livescribe, I needed a desktop app, and buy a third party handwriting to text conversion tool.
